School Council

What is a school council?

A school council is a group of pupils who represent their classmates and meet regularly to discuss school issues and ways of making our school a better place for everyone.

Each year, every class will elect one representative to be a member of the school council. The council will then meet to elect a chairperson, a vice chairperson and a secretary. Every school councillor wears a blue school council badge.

What does a school council do?

School council meetings normally take place once a month.  During these meetings, councillors help make decisions about how the school is run and take on projects that support pupil learning and development, such as organising charity events, representing the school at outside events or ensuring the school is environmentally friendly.

What particular areas of the school is the school council focusing on improving this year?

  • Helping to develop a love for reading throughout the school
  • Raising money for a local, national and international charity
  • Becoming involved in the monitoring of the school’s curriculum
  • Developing links with the local community

For more information about the school council, please contact Mr Yeo.
